Javier Urenda, Cielo Urenda and Nancy Jimenez ID’d as Three Killed in Highway 50 Crash near Camino Heights Drive in Placerville
El Dorado County, California (January 17, 2019) – The three people who were killed Tuesday night in a traffic collision near Placerville have been identified as Nancy Jimenez, 24, of Stockton, Javier Urenda, 51, and Cielo Urenda , 1, both of Fremont, according to the El Dorado County Sheriff’s Office.
The fatal accident occurred at around 6:28 p.m. Tuesday, January 15 on Highway 50 near Camino Heights Drive, which is three miles east of Placerville.
According to the California Highway Patrol, a vehicle occupied by the deceased victims, was traveling eastbound on Highway 50 when its driver lost control in the rain and collided head-on with another vehicle.
Jimenez, Javier, and Cielo were killed in the accident. The driver of the other vehicle sustained major injuries and was airlifted to a hospital.
The CHP said speed and slick roads were considered factors in the accident.
Officials closed the No. 2 lane of Highway 50 for about three hours during the investigation. As of 9:30 p.m. the road was reopened.
Further details were not immediately available, and the CHP is investigating the accident.
