James Harrell Killed in Truckee Plane Crash in the Martis Valley
Truckee, California (June 16, 2021) – The man who died in a plane crash in Truckee late Tuesday morning has been identified as James Duncan Harrell, 24, of Sacramento, according to the authorities.
The Placer County Sheriff’s Office said the crash took place just before 11 a.m. June 15, in the Martis Valley.
A single-engine Cirrus SR20 is reported to have crashed in an open area behind a neighborhood less than 10 minutes after takeoff from Truckee Tahoe Airport.
James Harrell Killed in Truckee Plane Crash
Harrell, who was piloting the plane, died in the crash.
A second man who was a passenger in the plane was seriously injured and was transported to Renown Regional Medical Center in Reno, Nevada.
The authorities could not immediately establish where the plane was headed.
The FAA and the NTSB are investigating the accident.
