41-Year-Old Five Points Man Killed in Stanislaus County Crash on Interstate 5

Stanislaus County, California (April 22, 2021) – Authorities are investigating a Wednesday morning multi-vehicle accident that killed a 41-year-old man from the Five Points in Stanislaus County.
The deadly big rig accident transpired at about 1:00 a.m., on April 21, on Interstate 5.
According to the California Highway Patrol, a semi-truck driver noticed another driver who was possibly drunk and tried to take matters into his own hands by positioned the truck in a manner that stopped the other vehicle from going northbound on Interstate 5.
Unfortunately, the action caused traffic to stop and a three-vehicle big rig pileup.
Man Killed in Interstate 5 Crash
Sadly, the driver of one of the big rigs, the 41-year-old man from the Five Points area, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Daniel Avilan-Tirado, 40, who was operating the big rig allegedly intoxicated, was arrested and charged with driving under the influence.
More details about the accident were not immediately available.
The crash remains under investigation.
