Escondido, CA: Wrong-Way Crash on Interstate 15
2 Injured in Escondido DUI Car Accident on Interstate 15 near Auto Park Way

Escondido, California (March 2, 2019) – Two people were injured Saturday afternoon in a wrong-way crash in Escondido, according to a local news source.
At about 1:38 p.m. the California Highway Patrol officials received a report regarding a pickup truck headed the wrong way in HOV lanes on Interstate 15near Auto Park Way.
Moments later, the pickup reportedly collided head-on with another truck near Via Rancho Parkway.
Paramedics responded to the scene and transported one passenger in the wrong-way truck to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The driver of the other truck had a complaint of pain but refused transportation to the hospital.
According to the CHP, the wrong-way driver, who was not injured in the crash, was arrested on suspicion driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
The crash caused the closure of the No. 1 and 2 lanes of the freeway. As of 3:00 p.m. the lanes were reopened.
The accident remains under investigation.
