Tulare County, California (March 3, 2019) – A driver was killed and a passenger injured in an accident involving a big rig on Friday night in rural Tulare County, as per a local news source.

The collision took place at about 6:40 p.m. March 1, on Road 44 and Avenue 376 southeast of Kingsbury.

The California Highway Patrol said the driver of a Kia Soul was driving east on Avenue 376 and ran a stop sign. The driver of the Kia crossed Road 44 and a southbound big rig struck it. The impact of the collision caused the big rig to hit another vehicle, which was northbound on Road 44.

The driver of the Kia was declared dead at the scene.  A passenger in the Kia was injured and taken to Kaweah Delta Medical Center in Visalia.

No further details on the crash were immediately released.

The crash is still under investigation.
