Escondido, California (May 27, 2021) – The California Highway Patrol is investigating the cause of an alleged hit-and-run car accident that injured at least one person in Escondido Wednesday morning, May 26.

The crash was reported at about 9:00 a.m. on Interstate 15 near Valley Parkway.

As per the dispatch, an unspecified vehicle possibly crashed with a gray Ford Fusion before it overturned on its roof along the northbound side of the interstate.

A passenger was reportedly pinned in the flipped automobile and had to be rescued by firefighters.

The unidentified extricated victim sustained unspecified injuries in the crash.

Officials affirmed that the overturned car operator did not stop to render aid and escaped the scene on foot, east on Valley Parkway, before the police arrived.

The crash remains under an active investigation.
