Derrick Peevy ID’d as 1 of 2 Men Killed in Taft Crash on Highway 119 near Sunridge Avenue
Taft, California (June 13, 2021) – One of the two men who died in an early Thursday morning traffic crash in Taft has been identified as Derrick Taylor Peevy, 28, of Taft, according to the Kern County Coroner’s Bureau.
The collision occurred at around 4:09 a.m. Thursday, June 10, on Highway 119, just west of Sunridge Avenue.
Authorities said two vehicles collided head-on for an unknown on Highway 119.
Deadly Head-On Crash in Taft
Both drivers were pronounced dead at the scene.
The highway remained closed in both directions for an unknown period following the wreck.
The crash remains under investigation by the California Highway Patrol.
