Dawn Ross, Jack Ross, Thomas Standen, Jill Standen, Andrew Standen and Lilian Standen Injured in Mariposa County Two-Car Crash on Highway 140 at Mt. Bullion Cutoff Road

Mariposa County, California (January 4, 2019) – Six people were hospitalized after a Christmas Eve head-on collision in Mariposa County, according to a local news source.
At about 8:41 p.m., Monday, December 24, the California Highway Patrol officials received a report regarding a two-car crash on Highway 140 at Mt. Bullion Cutoff Road.
The CHP said a 2001 Chevrolet Suburban driven by Dawn Ross, 65, of Mariposa, was heading eastbound on Highway 140 while a 2016 Lexus NX 200 driven by Thomas Standen, 40, of Madera, was traveling westbound.
Due to the slowing traffic ahead, Ross applied the brakes of her Chevrolet and made a turning movement. She then lost control and the Chevrolet drifted from the eastbound lane into the westbound lane, where it collided head-on with the Lexus.
The force of the impact caused the Lexus to flip onto its roof.
All of the occupants in both vehicles were taken to hospitals for their injuries, ranging from minor to moderate.
Dawn Ross was taken to Mercy Community Hospital in Merced with moderate injuries. Jack Ross, 74, Mariposa, sustained minor injuries and was also transported to Mercy Community Hospital in Merced.
Standen suffered moderate injuries and was taken to Doctors Hospital in Modesto while Andrew Standen, 9, Madera, was also transported to Doctors Hospital in Modesto with minor injuries.
Lilian Standen, 12, Madera, was taken to Emmanuel Hospital in Turlock, with moderate injuries.
Alcohol or drugs were not suspected factors in the crash. CHP are investigating the accident.
