Citrus Heights Woman Dies in Stanislaus County Crash on Highway 4 near Dunton Road
Stanislaus County, California (May 31, 2021) – Authorities are investigating a head-on collision that claimed the life of a Citrus Heights woman Sunday afternoon in Stanislaus County.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the deadly accident happened at about 1:30 p.m. Sunday, May 30, on Highway 4, just west of Dunton Road, about 10 miles west of Copperopolis.
CHP said the 43-year-old Citrus Heights woman was driving a 2002 Nissan Maxima westbound on Highway 4 when she allowed the vehicle to cross over the yellow lines into the eastbound lane, where it collided head-on with an oncoming 2016 Dodge Ram.
Witnesses told the CHP officers the Nissan driver was weaving back and forth over the yellow center divider lines prior to the collision.
Deadly Head-On Collision in Stanislaus County
The driver of the Nissan died in the crash. Her name has not been released pending notification of next of kin.
It is undetermined whether alcohol or drugs played a role in the collision.
The accident remains under investigation.
