Oxnard, California (January 10, 2021) – A 75-year-old male bicyclist from Oxnard was hit and killed by a semi-truck on Saturday afternoon in Oxnard, authorities said.

The deadly accident happened at about 3:43 p.m., on January 9, at the intersection of S Oxnard Boulevard and W Wooley Road.

According to the officials, the bicyclist was struck by a 2019 Peterbilt semi-truck driven by a 21-year-old man from Fresno. 

The truck was reportedly turning from Wooley Road onto Oxnard Boulevard and was headed northbound, towing a 53-foot trailer, when the accident occurred.

Sadly, the bicyclist was pronounced dead at the scene.

The involved driver remained at the scene and cooperated with the authorities.

Drugs or alcohol were not suspected of having played a role in the collision.

Traffic at the intersection was stopped for several hours due to the accident.
