Bakersfield, California (March 5, 2021) – A pedestrian was struck and killed by a vehicle Thursday evening at an intersection in Northwest Bakersfield, according to a local news source.

The deadly accident happened shortly before 7:00 p.m. Thursday, March 4, at the intersection of Rosedale Highway and Dean Avenue.

Authorities said a woman, believed to be in her mid-40s to mid-50s, was walking northbound across the road when she was hit by a vehicle.

Deadly Bakersfield Pedestrian Accident

First responders arrived at the location and found the woman suffering from major injuries. Sadly, she was pronounced dead at the scene. Her name has not been disclosed pending notification of next of kin.

The involved driver stopped at the scene and was cooperative, authorities said. Alcohol or drugs were not considered a factor in the accident.

Rosedale Highway between Calloway Drive and Verdugo Lane was closed in both directions while the investigation took place.
