Arnold Torres ID’d as One of Two Men Killed in Fresno Industrial Accident at Vista Verde Ranch
Fresno County, California (January 7, 2019) – One of the two men who died in a fatal industrial accident that occurred at the Vista Verde Ranch in Fresno County on Saturday morning has been identified as Arnold Torres, 66, according to a local news source.
The fatal incident was reported at about 11:15 a.m. January 5 at Harlan and Stanislaus Avenue.
A preliminary investigation found that an almond shaker machine had stopped working and the mechanic alongside the machine operator was trying to repair it. One of them crawled under the machine to disconnect the hydraulic hoses for the shaker arm.
When the man disconnected the hoses, the shaker arm fell on the two men, crushing them.
The victims were both pronounced deceased at the scene.
Family members identified one of the victims as Torres. The second victim was a 31-year-old man.
Other workers contacted the authorities immediately after seeing the two had been crushed.
The Cal Osha is conducting an investigation to determine the cause of the accident.
