Crows Landing, California (July 16, 2021) – Alberto Toscano, 60, of Newman, has been identified as the man who was killed in a Friday morning traffic accident that left one other person injured in Crows Landing, authorities said.

The deadly accident occurred at about 5:30 a.m. on Eastin Road, a little over half-mile south of Highway 33.

According to the California Highway Patrol, Toscano was headed southbound in a John Deere tractor towing a sprayer tank when a Chevrolet pickup rear-ended him.

Following the collision, the tractor went off the west side of the road, where it flipped over and the trailer wrapped around a power pole. The pickup went into a field on the east side of the roadway.

Sadly, Toscano, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was ejected onto the roadway and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the Chevrolet, Cesar Bravo, 24, told investigators the sun was coming up and in his eyes, limiting his visibility. He sustained minor injuries in the accident.

Intoxication was not suspected of having played a role in the accident.

The crash remains under investigation.
