Pomona, California (November 3, 2020) – Alberto Soriano, 26, has been identified as one of the two persons who were killed in a big rig accident on Tuesday morning in Pomona, according to the coroner’s office.

At about 3:30 a.m., on November 3, the California Highway Patrol responded to the deadly accident on the right side of the southbound lane of Orange (57) Freeway near Temple Avenue.

The CHP said a red SUV was traveling southbound on the 57 Freeway when it rear-ended a big rig that was parked on the right shoulder of the freeway.

Following the collision, the SUV became wedged under the truck.

Soriano and one other person were pronounced dead at the scene.  

It is unclear how many people were injured in the crash.

Traffic on the roadway was stopped for an unknown period due to the accident.

Further details regarding the accident were not immediately available.

The crash remains under investigation.
