Pomona, California (November 4, 2020) – One of the two people who were killed after an SUV crashed into the back of a big rig early Tuesday morning in Pomona has been identified as Vivian Nguyen, 19.

The California Highway Patrol said the deadly rear-end collision happened at around 3:30 a.m. Tuesday, November 3 in the southbound lane of Orange (57) Freeway near Temple Avenue off-ramp.

According to the CHP, a red SUV was traveling southbound on 57 Freeway when it slammed into the rear of the big rig that was parked on the right shoulder of the freeway.

The SUV became wedged under the truck following the accident.

Emergency personnel responded to the scene and pronounced Nguyen and another person dead at the scene.

It is unclear how many people were injured in the crash.

All lanes except one southbound lane were temporarily closed as the investigation and clean up took place.
