35-Year-Old Modesto Woman Dies in Tulare County Crash near Akers Street and Avenue 272

Visalia, California (October 25, 2019) – A Modesto woman was killed early Thursday morning in Tulare County after two vehicles collided head-on, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The deadly accident occurred at about 5 a.m. Thursday, October 24, near Akers Street and Avenue 72 in Visalia, and involved a 2017 Freightliner and a 2009 Lexus.

Investigators say the driver of the Lexus, identified as a 35-year-Old Modesto woman, was traveling northbound on Akers Street when she drifted into the path of oncoming traffic and collided head-on with the southbound Freightliner.

Modesto Woman Killed in Tulare County Big Rig Crash

The Modesto woman died in the collision.

The driver of the big rig, David Jones, 25, of Visalia, remained at the scene after the incident.

Akers Street was blocked for several hours as crews worked on the scene.

The incident is under investigation.
