Elk Grove, California (February 22, 2021) – Two people were killed and two others were injured early Monday morning in a single-vehicle traffic accident in Elk Grove, according to a local news source.

The deadly crash occurred at about 4:45 a.m. on Whitelock Parkway near Franklin High School, authorities reported.

According to the authorities, a vehicle was traveling on Whitelock Parkway when it veered off the roadway and crashed into a tree. The vehicle split into two after the impact.

Two people were ejected from the vehicle as a result of the crash.

Firefighters along with the paramedics responded to the scene and extricated two other people from the wreckage.

Two people were pronounced dead at the scene. Two other occupants were transported to a hospital, one with critical injuries and the other with non-life-threatening injuries.

Police closed Eastbound Whitelock Parkway between Franklin High Road and Bellaterra Drive while they conduct an investigation.

Motorists were being asked to seek an alternate route.
