Mother, 18-Month Twins Hospitalized after Fresno Car Crash at Belmont and Palm Avenues

Fresno, California (February 22, 2021) – A mother and her two infants were hospitalized Sunday night following an alleged DUI car accident at an intersection in Fresno, according to a local news source.
The crash happened shortly before 8:00 p.m. Sunday, February 21 Crash at the intersection of Belmont Avenue and Palm Avenue, according to authorities.
The authorities said a Producers Dairy semi-truck was turning southbound from Belmont Avenue to Palm Avenue when a westbound black sedan traveling behind the semi-truck slowed down.
The sedan was then struck from behind by a white SUV. The impact pushed the sedan into the back of the semi-truck.
All occupants in the sedan, the mother and her 18-month twins, were transported to Community Regional Medical Center with unspecified injuries. The infants were in car seats in the rear seat at the time of the collision, authorities said.
The drivers of the SUV and the truck were not injured.
Authorities later determined that the SUV driver was under the influence of drugs or alcohol at the time of the accident. The driver was ultimately arrested on suspicion of DUI.
The accident remains under investigation.
