One Killed, Two Hospitalized after Highway 58 Collision near Broome Road in Tehachapi
Tehachapi, California (June 7, 2021) – A two-vehicle collision has claimed the life of one person late Sunday night in Tehachapi and left two people with serious injuries, the California Highway Patrol reported.
The deadly crash, which was reported at about 11:15 p.m. Sunday, June 6, happened on Highway 58 near Broome Road.
The incident began when an officer attempted to pull over a vehicle in Barstow. The suspect failed to yield and made their way through Tehachapi.
The vehicle reportedly got onto Highway 58 from Highway 202 and continued westbound in the eastbound lane, the CHP said.
The suspect’s vehicle then hit another vehicle that was traveling eastbound on Highway 58 near Broome Road.

According to the CHP, a 62-year-old passenger in the vehicle that was hit died in the crash. The name of the victim has not been disclosed pending notification of next of kin.
Both drivers were transported to nearby hospitals with major injuries. Their condition at this time was unknown.
A section of Highway 58 was blocked following the wreck.
The accident remains under investigation.
