Paradise Man, Yuba City Man Killed in Yuba County Car Crash on Highway 70 near Chandler Road
Yuba County, California (March 30, 2021) – A wrong-way car accident has claimed the lives of two men Monday morning in Yuba County, a local news source reported.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the deadly crash happened at about 6:30 a.m. Monday, March 29, on Highway 70, just north of Yuba City.
Authorities said a 38-year-old Paradise man was driving a Ford F-250 recklessly down southbound Highway 70 south of Lower Honcut Road.
As the Ford approached Chandler Road, the man drove southbound in the northbound lane and collided with a Ford Explorer driven by a 31-year-old Yuba City man.
As a result of the collision, the Explorer drifted off the roadway and overturned before it burst into flames. The F-250 rolled over and struck a Lexus RX 350.
According to the CHP, the Paradise man was allegedly swerving in and out of traffic lanes on the two-lane highway at erratic speeds prior to the collision.
The Paradise man and the Yuba City man were pronounced dead at the scene. Their names have not been disclosed.
One occupant of the Lexus, a San Jose man, was not injured in the crash.
It is unknown whether alcohol or drugs played a role in the collision.
No additional information about the accident was provided.
An investigation into the accident is underway.
