San Ysidro, California (October 20, 2020) – A Hispanic female, aged between 30 and 50, died after being struck by a hit-and-run driver early Thursday morning in San Ysidro, according to the San Diego County Medical Examiner’s Office.

The deadly pedestrian crash happened at about 12:57 a.m. Thursday, October 15, on Interstate 805 exit at San Ysidro Boulevard.

Authorities said the woman was walking westbound on San Ysidro Boulevard when she tried to cross the northbound Interstate 805 off-ramp.

For an unknown reason, the woman was hit by a gold-colored SUV that was exiting the freeway. The impact of the collision threw the woman about 25 yards and came to a stop in the middle of an intersection.

Deadly Pedestrian Accident on Interstate 805 in San Ysidro

Paramedics responded to the scene and performed CPR on the woman. Despite life-saving measures, the victim did not survive her injuries and was declared dead at the scene at 1:05 a.m.

The driver of the SUV did not stop to render aid and fled the scene.

The San Diego Police is investigating the crash.
