Kings County, California (January 6, 2021) – A 56-year-old woman was killed in a Tuesday evening traffic accident that left two other people injured in Fresno, Kings County, authorities said.

The deadly two-vehicle accident happened just before 6:00 p.m., on January 5, on Highway 198 near 2nd Avenue, between Hanford and Visalia.

According to the California Highway Patrol, a 2017 Hyundai was speeding westbound Highway 198 and slammed into the back of a 1998 Toyota, driven by a 51-year-old man.

As a result of the collision, both vehicles veered off the roadway. The Toyota reportedly overturned.

The 56-year-old woman, who was a passenger in the Toyota, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The 51-year-old man sustained major injuries and was taken to Kaweah Delta Medical Center for treatment.

According to the officials, a 27-year-old driver of the Hyundai suffered minor injuries in the accident.

Drugs or alcohol were not suspected of having played a role in the mishap.

The crash remains under investigation.
