5 People Killed in Fresno Crash on Interstate 5 near Panoche Road

Fresno, California (January 6, 2021) – Three children and two adults were killed in a fiery big rig accident on Tuesday night in Fresno, authorities said.
At about 9:15 p.m., on January 5, the California Highway Patrol responded to the deadly two-vehicle accident on Interstate 5 near Panoche Road.
A pickup truck was headed northbound on Interstate 5 when it crossed over into the southbound lanes where it collided head-on with a big rig, the CHP said.
Following the collision, both vehicles reportedly caught fire.

Three children and two adults who were in the pickup truck sustained fatal injuries in the accident.
The driver of the big rig sustained minor injuries in the crash.
Traffic on the southbound lanes of the freeway, south of the Merced/Fresno county line at Panoche Road, was temporarily stopped due to the collision.
It was not clear if drugs or alcohol played a role in the accident.
The crash remains under investigation.
