Woman Hit, Killed by Suspected Drunk Driver on Highway 99 in Roseville

Roseville, California (January 8, 2021) – A woman was struck and killed by a suspected drunk motorist early Friday morning in Roseville, according to a local news source.

The California Highway Patrol said the 26-year-old Roseville woman was driving northbound on Highway 99, just north of Dillard Road at around 2:20 a.m., when, for unknown reasons, her 2015 Nissan Sentra collided with a 2015 Nissan 370Z.

The woman reportedly got out of her vehicle to speak with the other driver. As the two drivers were talking outside their vehicles in the left northbound lane, a 1996 Volkswagen Jetta struck the woman and the Nissan 370Z.

The woman was pronounced dead at the scene. Her name was withheld pending notification of next of kin.

The driver of the Volkswagen Jetta, Jesus S. Hernandez, 23, of Bridgeport, Washington, was found to be under the influence of alcohol at the time of the accident. He was ultimately arrested on suspicion of DUI.

The accident remains under investigation.
