William Hester ID’d as Army Veteran Killed in Hit-And-Run Crash at Palm Street and Arnold Avenue in Sacramento County

Sacramento County, California (October 3, 2019) – The elderly Army Veteran who was killed in an auto-pedestrian accident in McClellan Park, Sacramento County on Tuesday morning has been identified as William Hester, 73, according to a local news source.
The incident happened in the area of Palm Street and Arnold Avenue on Tuesday, October 1.
CHP said Hester and his wife Deborah were trying to cross the street to a dentist appointment when a vehicle struck Hester.
Hester, a Vietnam veteran, reportedly pushed his wife out of the way and she was not struck.

Emergency crews responded to the incident and performed CPR on Hester but he died at the scene of the collision.
The driver of the involved vehicle reportedly fled the scene after the accident. The suspect was operating a full-size gray pickup truck.
The incident is under investigation.
