Pedestrian Suffers Serious Injuries in Vista Accident on South Santa Fe Drive

Vista, California (March 28, 2021) – A 56-year-old Vista woman sustained serious injuries after being struck by an alleged hit-and-run driver in Vista Wednesday evening, March 24.
The major injury crash was reported just before 6:30 p.m. on South Santa Fe Drive at Palmyra Drive.
A 2007 Toyota Tacoma driven by 28-year-old Carmelo Hernandez Cruz reportedly hit the female pedestrian while walking across South Santa Fe Drive in the evening hours.
Cruz stopped for a while then escaped the crash site.
Meanwhile, good Samaritans attended to the pedestrian before the paramedics arrived.
Major Injury Vista Pedestrian Accident
The woman sustained serious injuries and was rushed to an area hospital for medication.
Hernandez, a San Marcos resident, was arrested on Friday morning in connection with the crash and booked into the county jail on a $50,000 bail.
An investigation into the accident is underway.
