Vista, California (July 24, 2021) – A head-on collision has claimed the life of a 44-year-old man and left two other people injured Saturday afternoon in Vista, authorities said.
The tragic accident occurred a little after 1:30 p.m. on Vale Terrace Drive near Williamston Street, just west of Brengle Terrace Park.
According to the authorities, the 44-year-old man was driving a white Mazda eastbound on Vale Terrace Drive at a high rate of speed when he lost control of the vehicle, which then collided head-on with a Chevrolet Silverado that was heading westbound.

The driver of the Mazda, whose name has not been disclosed pending family notification, was taken to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead. His passenger, a 44-year-old woman, was transported to the hospital with major injuries.
A 77-year-old man, who was the driver of the Silverado, sustained serious but non-life-threatening injuries and was also taken to the hospital.
Further details about the crash were not immediately provided.
The accident remains under investigation.
