Visalia, California (January 3, 2019) – Two people were injured early Thursday morning in a DUI crash at an intersection in Visalia, police said.

The wreck was reported shortly after midnight at the intersection of Houston Avenue and Woodland Street.

According to the police, the suspect, Nicholas Nunez, 26, was driving westbound on the eastbound lanes of Houston Avenue when his 2001 Chevy Silverado collided head-on with a 2007 Toyota FJ occupied by two people.

The occupants of the Toyota sustained moderate injuries and were taken to a local hospital.

Nunez, who was suspected of being under the influence of narcotics as well as an inhalant, sustained minor injuries in the crash. He was arrested on charges of DUI resulting in injury and will be booked at the Tulare County Adult Pretrial Facility upon release from the hospital.

The crash remains under investigation.
