1 Driver Dies after San Luis Obispo Wrong-Way Car Crash on Los Osos Valley Road near Foothill Boulevard
San Luis Obispo, California (January 3, 2019) – One of the drivers who was hospitalized Thursday morning after a head-on collision in San Luis Obispo has died, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The deadly accident occurred at around 7:20 a.m. on Los Osos Valley Road, just east of Foothill Boulevard.
The CHP said a Honda Civic was heading westbound in the eastbound lanes when it collided head-on with a silver Dodge. The vehicle directly in front of the Dodge was able to swerve out of the way to avoid the oncoming Civic, but the Dodge could not move in time to prevent the crash.
The drivers of the two vehicles sustained major injuries and were transported to a hospital, where one of them later succumbed to their injuries. Both drivers were the sole occupants of their cars.
The names of both the deceased and the injured victim have not been disclosed.
The crash remains under investigation.
