Sylmar, California (May 18, 2021) – The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner-Coroner’s Bureau has identified one of the two people who died Sunday night following a head-on crash in Sylmar as Violet Nazari, 57, of Granada.
The deadly accident happened at around 9:30 p.m. Sunday, May 9, in the 16637 block of West Foothill Boulevard near Balboa Boulevard.
Authorities said a 50-year-old man was driving on West Foothill Boulevard when, for unknown reasons, he allowed his vehicle to cross over double yellow lines into the opposite lane, where it collided head-on with a car driven by Nazari.
Deadly Head-On Collision in Sylmar
Nazari was pronounced dead at the scene.
A passenger in the vehicle that struck Nazari’s vehicle head-on was transported to a local hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries despite life-saving efforts performed by the medical personnel.
The 50-year-old driver was taken to the hospital with unspecified injuries. His current condition was not disclosed.
Further details regarding the collision were not available, and the crash remains under investigation.
