Victim Seriously Hurt in DUI Head-On Collision Modesto on Maze Boulevard ID’d as Claude Bennett
Claude Bennett Hospitalized after Modesto Crash on Maze Boulevard
Modesto, California (March 26, 2021) – Claude Bennett has been identified as a man in his 70s who was hospitalized with major injuries after being involved in a suspected DUI crash in Modesto Wednesday night.
The major injury accident occurred in the 100 block of Maze Boulevard just west of the bend where L Street becomes the boulevard at approximately 8 p.m. March 24.
The accident happened when a Dodge SUV traveling north on L Street crossed the center divider and crashed head-on into a Nissan pickup that was driven by Bennett on Maze.
Due to the impact, the SUV was forced into another Dodge.
Claude Bennett was pinned inside the wreckage and had to be extricated by firefighters.
Bennett sustained major injuries and was rushed to an area hospital for medication.
The other Dodge operator, a San Leandro woman in her 30s, survived with minor injuries following the mishap.
Meanwhile, the male motorist of the SUV was determined to have been intoxicated at the time of the wreck. He was later arrested and charged with DUI.
An investigation into the accident is underway.
