Ranjit Singh ID’d as Victim Struck and Killed by Vehicle on Highway 99 near Jensen Avenue in Fresno

Fresno, California (December 30, 2020) – The Fresno County Coroner’s Office has identified the pedestrian who died following a traffic collision in the area of Fresno Monday morning as 53-year-old Ranjit Singh.
The deadly crash happened at approximately 4:30 a.m. on Highway 99 near Jensen Avenue.
As per the California Highway Patrol report, Singh was hit by a Chevrolet Equinox while walking in the far right southbound lane of the roadway under unclear circumstances.
Due to the impact, Singh was pushed into the highway’s middle lane, where he was hit by a second car.
The involved Chevrolet driver, 42-year-old Gabriel Gonzalez of Fresno, said he did not see Singh in the roadway because it was dark outside. He remained at the scene and cooperated with the law.

Sadly, Singh died in the accident.
There were no other parties hurt in the mishap. Officials said the second motorist possibly escaped the scene following the wreck.
Intoxication was not considered to be a factor in the accident. An investigation into the crash is underway.
