Troy Lohuis Killed in Sacramento Crash on Highway 99
Troy Lohuis ID’d as Caltrans Subcontractor Hit and Killed by Vehicle on Highway 99 near Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard in Sacramento

Sacramento, California (July 27, 2021) – Authorities have identified the Caltrans subcontractor who died after being struck by a vehicle Monday evening while preparing for overnight work on a highway in South Sacramento as Troy Jacob Lohuis, 47.
The deadly crash happened at around 9:55 p.m. on July 26, on Highway 99, just south of Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard, the California Highway Patrol reported.
The CHP said Lohuis, who was an employee with Highway Specialty Company out of North Highlands, was placing a construction sign on the right shoulder of Highway 99 when he was hit by a Ford F-150 as he was walking northbound toward his car on the right shoulder.

Lohuis died in the crash.
Lanes were closed for hours as authorities investigated the crash.
No further details were released.
