Richard Greenleaf ID’d as Man Killed in San Diego Crash on Camino Del Rio North
San Diego, California (July 27, 2021) – The San Diego Medical Examiner’s Office has identified the man who died Sunday, five days after a traffic accident in San Diego as Richard Greenleaf, 93, of San Diego.
The tragic crash happened at around 3:58 p.m. Tuesday, July 20, in the 3400 block of Camino Del Rio North, between Interstates 15 and 805.
Authorities said a vehicle was traveling eastbound on Camino Del Rio North when, for unknown reasons, it crossed over the center median into the westbound lane and collided head-on with an oncoming vehicle driven by Greenleaf.
Elderly Driver Killed in San Diego Collision on Camino Del Rio North
Greenleaf, who was the sole occupant of the vehicle, was transported to Sharp Memorial Hospital for treatment. On Sunday, July 25, his condition deteriorated, and he succumbed to his injuries.
Both vehicles had major front-end damages and were disabled near the middle of the road, causing the closure to the road.
No other information about the crash was provided.
San Diego Police is investigating the accident.
