15-year-old Girl Killed, Man Injured in Trinity County Truck Accident on Highway 299 near Indian Creek Lodge

Trinity County, California (August 10, 2020) – Authorities are investigating a Monday morning head-on crash that killed a 15-year-old Modoc County teenager and left a man nursing injuries in Trinity County, police said.
At about 9:00 a.m., the California Highway Patrol responded to the deadly three-vehicle accident on Highway 299, just west of the Indian Creek Lodge.
The CHP said the teenager was driving her pickup eastbound on Highway 299 when she drove into the westbound lane while passing multiple vehicles.
Unfortunately, the girl collided head-on with an oncoming pickup truck, driven by a man, as she was passing a semi-truck. As a result of the collision, the teenager’s pickup struck the backside of the semi-truck’s trailer, the officials said.
Both pickups reportedly came to a rest in the westbound lane of Highway 299.

Sadly the teenager was pronounced dead at the scene.
The man in the pickup sustained minor injuries in the crash while the semi-truck’s driver was uninjured.
Following the accident, traffic on the highway was stopped for about an hour.
It was not clear if drugs or alcohol played a role in the mishap.
An investigation into the accident is underway. Anyone with information about the collision is asked to contact the CHP at 623-3832.
