Tow Truck Driver Killed in Crash on Highway 99 in Delano
Man Killed, 1 Injured in Delano Accident on Highway 99 near Wollomes Avenue
Delano, California (October 16, 2020) – A tow truck driver died after a traffic accident that happened Thursday night in Delano, the California Highway Patrol reported.
The deadly crash occurred shortly before 10:00 p.m. Thursday, October 15, in the northbound lanes of Highway 99, just south of Wollomes Avenue.
According to the CHP report, the tow truck was on the right shoulder of the highway when a red Mitsubishi SUV drifted from the slow lane and collided with it.
The tow truck driver was standing beside the tow truck when he was struck by the SUV.
Deadly Crash Crash on Highway 99 in Delano
The operator of the tow truck died at the scene. The name of the victim was withheld pending notification of family.
The SUV driver sustained major injuries.
Alcohol or drugs were considered a factor in the accident.
The crash remains under investigation.
