San Jose, California (June 6, 2020) – Authorities have identified Tom Fawcett, 61, as the man who was killed in a bicycle crash that also left a 59-year-old woman injured on Thursday evening in San Jose.

The deadly crash transpired at about 4:56 p.m., on June 4, on the Guadalupe River Trail, directly under the Tasman Bridge.

The police said Fawcett and his companion, the 59-year-old woman, were cycling northbound on the roadway when a 27-year-old male cyclist allegedly struck them.

Fawcett was taken to a hospital where he succumbed to his injuries while the woman was hospitalized with non-life threatening injuries.

Following the accident, the 27-year-old male cyclist fled the scene. The suspect was located on Friday and taken to a hospital with non-life threatening injuries. He will be booked into Santa Clara County Jail for felony hit-and-run and manslaughter after being medically cleared from the hospital.
