Bakersfield, California (July 6, 2021) – The man who was killed in an auto-pedestrian collision in east Bakersfield early Monday morning has been identified as Thomas Henry Pierson, 40, of Bakersfield, according to the Kern County Coroner’s Office.

The crash took place in the 600 block of 4th Street at about 12:54 a.m. July 5.

Police said Pierson was walking in the area when a vehicle struck him. 

The driver then stopped to check on Pierson and was also hit by another driver.

The second driver remained at the scene after the incident.

Police said Pierson died at the scene while the second victim was taken to a hospital with moderate injuries.

The Bakersfield Police Department is investigating the incident.
