Lakeport, California (December 3, 2020) – The bicyclist who died after being struck by a hit-and-run driver Wednesday afternoon in north Lakeport has been identified as Terry Lee Cook, 73, of Lakeport, according to the Lake County Sheriff’s Office.

At about 1:54 p.m. Wednesday, December 2, the California Highway Patrol responded to the deadly bicycle accident on Lakeshore Boulevard, just north of Hill Road East.

The CHP said Cook was riding his bicycle southbound on Lakeshore Boulevard, within the southbound lane.

At the same time, a white 2005 Kia Sorrento, driven by Amber Bruhn, 33, of Nice, was reportedly traveling southbound on Lakeshore Boulevard, approaching Cook.

Unfortunately, Bruhn’s Kia crashed into the bicyclist. The crash impact sent Cook over Bruhn’s vehicle and onto the roadway, the officials said.

Cook, who was using his safety equipment, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Bruhn fled the scene and left the vehicle at a nearby hotel. She was later located and arrested.

Drugs or alcohol were not suspected of having played a role in the accident.
