Terilyn Peralta Killed in Modesto Crash on Highway 99 near Pelandale Avenue
Modesto, California (January 3, 2019) – Terilyn Peralta has been identified as the driver killed after a wrong-way collision on December 22 in the area of Modesto, according to a local news source.
The accident was reported at 12:34 a.m. Saturday, December 22, on Highway 99 near Pelandale Avenue.
As per the report, the driver of a 2004 GMC Yukon was driving north in the southbound lanes of the highway while 40-year-old Schwan Taylor of Empire was driving a 1997 Toyota with a passenger identified as 69-year-old Clarence Taylor of Modesto.
Peralta was reportedly driving a 2007 Chevrolet Tahoe behind Taylor. The Yukon was heading in the wrong direction side-swiped Taylor’s Toyota for unknown reasons and then crashed head-on into the Chevrolet.
The impact caused the Toyota and the Chevrolet to burst into flames. Peralta and a child driving in the Chevrolet and the wrong-way driver died at the scene.
The names of the two other fatal victims were not immediately released.
Officials said that either Schwan or Clarence suffered injuries as a result of the accident. The injured party was treated at the scene by responding paramedics and later transported to the hospital for further medical evaluation.
Officials said it was unclear if drugs or alcohol played a role in the accident.
Authorities closed the southbound lanes of Highway 99 at Pelandale Avenue for about four hours following the accident.
