Kern County, California (June 27, 2021) – A 22-year-old man from Taft was killed in a Sunday morning traffic accident involving a semi-truck in Kern County, authorities said.
The deadly accident occurred at about 12:13 a.m., on June 27, on Highway 33 at Lokern Road.
According to the California Highway Patrol, a PT Cruiser, driven by the Taft man, turned left into the path of a Kenworth semi-truck, operated by Alan G. Saldana, 32, of Bakersfield, and was struck on the left side.
The semi-truck was reportedly traveling northbound on the highway when the accident occurred.

Sadly, the Taft man was pronounced dead at the scene.
Saldana was not injured in the collision.
Drugs or alcohol do not appear to be factors in the accident, the CHP said.
More details about the accident were not immediately available.
The crash remains under investigation.
