Sutter County, CA: Fatal Head-On Crash on Highway 99
1 Killed, 1 Seriously Injured in Highway 99 Accident near Messick Road Sunday
Sutter County, California (August 4, 2019) – A person was killed and another was seriously injured Sunday in a head-on crash in Sutter County, authorities said.
The deadly accident happened on Highway 99 near Messick Road, just south of Yuba City.
The California Highway Patrol said a silver Lexus was traveling northbound in the left lane of Highway 99 when for an unknown reason, the driver abruptly cut over hard to the left and collided head-on with an SUV that was traveling in the southbound left lane.
Both vehicles then caught fire after the impact. Authorities said there was only one person in each car

The Lexus driver was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the SUV was pulled out of the vehicle by a bystander.
The SUV driver was then transported to a local hospital major injuries.
The names of the deceased and injured victim have not been disclosed.
