Merced, California (October 15, 2019) – Steven Lee Taylor Sr., 43, of Folsom, has been identified as the motorcyclist who sustained major injuries following a traffic accident that happened Sunday night in Merced.

The crash was reported at around 9:48 p.m.Sunday, October 13 in the northbound lanes of Interstate 5, just south of the Laguna Seca Creek Overcrossing.

According to the California Highway Patrol, Taylor was riding a black 2005 Kawasaki Ninja when he slammed into the rear end of a black 2007 Nissan Versa that was stopped behind a traffic backup north of the John Erreca Rest Area.

As a result of the crash, Taylor was thrown from the motorcycle.

Taylor suffered major injuries and was airlifted to Doctors Medical Center in Modesto.

The driver of the Nissan, identified as Julie Ann Brown, 34, of Safford, Ariz., complained of pain and was transported to Los Banos Memorial Hospital.

No other injuries were reported.

Alcohol or drugs were not suspected factors in the accident.

An investigation into the accident is ongoing.
