Visalia Man Killed in Visalia Pedestrian Accident on Highway 198 near N Shirk Road

Visalia, California (October 15, 2019) – The California Highway Patrol is investigating a pedestrian accident that took the life of a 30-year-old Visalia man on Monday morning.
As per the CHP report, the incident occurred just before 10:00 a.m. October 14, on westbound Highway 198, just west of N Shirk Road.
Officers said the pedestrian was walking in the westbound lanes of Highway 198 when a 2016 Toyota that was merging onto Highway 198 from Shirk Road struck him.

The victim was transported to Kaweah Delta Medical Center, where he was later pronounced deceased.
The driver of the Toyota, Richard Vipham, 49, was not hurt in the crash.
Authorities said alcohol and drugs were not suspected to be a factor in the accident.
The incident is under investigation.
