Sonora, CA: Fatal Pedestrian Crash in on Highway 108 near Stockton Road

Sonora, California (February 17, 2019) – A 36-year-old woman died on Friday evening when a car hit her as she tried to cross the road in Sonora, according to the authorities.

The crash took place at about 6:26 p.m. February 15 on Highway 108 near the Stockton Road exit.

According to the California Highway Patrol, Timothy Hollis, 21, of Sonora, was driving east on 108 east of Stockton Road in a 2016 Chrysler 200 at about 50 mph.

A woman, whose name was not revealed, stepped off the south shoulder of the road and into traffic. Hollis applied his brakes, but couldn’t avoid striking the pedestrian. The impact threw the woman into the air and she landed in the westbound lane, where she was struck by a 2018 Ford F-150 driven by Glenn Gray, 28.

The woman was reportedly pronounced dead at the scene.

The incident remains under investigation.
