Sonoma, California (February 14, 2021) – Two girls were injured when they were struck by a car Sunday afternoon at an intersection in Sonoma, the California Highway Patrol reported.

Authorities said at around 1:44 p.m., an auto-pedestrian accident involving two juvenile females and a black Lexus SUV happened at the intersection of Sonoma Highway, also known as Highway 12, and Verano Avenue.

Firefighters and paramedics responded to the scene to find the two girls at the scene. One of them suffered possible major injuries, and the other minor injuries. The paramedics attended to the victims at the scene. There were no details about where the girls were taken for further medication.

The report also did not give any information about the involved driver.

Firefighters closed both westbound lanes of the highway following the accident.

All lanes were reopened at 2:21 p.m.

CHP is investigating the incident.
