Two 12-Year-Old Girls Injured in Sonoma Pedestrian Crash at Sonoma Highway at Verano Avenue

Sonoma, California (February 17, 2021) – Authorities are investigating a Sunday afternoon traffic accident that left two female pedestrians injured in Sonoma.
The major injury pedestrian accident occurred at about 1:40 p.m., on February 14, at the intersection of Sonoma Highway at Verano Avenue.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the two 12-year-old female pedestrians were crossing Sonoma Highway in the crosswalk between Palms Cafe and McDonald’s when a 2016 Lexus NX200T struck them.
The Lexus was turning westbound onto Highway 12 attempting a left turn from Verano Avenue, the officials said.
2 Girls Injured in Sonoma Pedestrian Crash
One of the girls sustained major injuries, and the other suffered minor injuries in the accident. Both were transported to Santa Rosa Memorial for treatment.
The involved driver, Lisbet Flores, 40, of Sonoma, remained at the scene and cooperated with the CHP.
It was not clear if the two juveniles were crossing against the light at the time. Drugs or alcohol were also not suspected of having played a role in the accident.
The crash remains under investigation.
