Sheila Faye Arndt ID’d as Woman Killed in Highway 132 Crash near Hayward Road in Modesto
Modesto, California (May 24, 2019) – The woman who was killed Sunday afternoon in a traffic accident that left five others injured near La Grange has been identified as Sheila Faye Arndt, 72, of La Grange, according to the Stanislaus County Coroner’s Office.
The deadly crash happened just before 3:00 p.m. Sunday, May 19 on Highway 132, just east of Hayward Road.
According to the CHP, a Nissan sedan driven by Arndt was traveling eastbound on Highway 132 when it veered into the westbound lane and was struck by a westbound 2016 Subaru sedan. The Nissan then veered off the roadway and caught fire.

Arndt was unable to free herself from her burning vehicle and died at the scene.
The driver of the Subaru sustained minor injuries and was taken to Memorial Medical Center in Modesto. Four passengers, including three small children, in the Subaru, were transported to Emanuel Medical Center in Turlock with minor injuries.
The crash remains under investigation.
