Shasta County, California (November 12, 2020) – 52-year-old Elizabeth Marcia Chick, of Ione, has been identified as the victim who died following a traffic collision in Shasta County Tuesday morning, November 10.

The California Highway Patrol responded to the deadly crash site at approximately 10:00 a.m. on Highway 299 east of Sugar Pine Road.

The accident happened when a semi-truck hauling bales of hay on a curve reportedly dropped six bales. A Honda Civic driven by Chick then crushed with the dropped bales.

Chick’s Honda swerved off into the path of oncoming traffic upon the impact and collided with another automobile.

Meanwhile, two other vehicles were reportedly crashed into the hay bales.

Chick died in the wreck.

The detectives handling the case are gathering more evidence to determine the cause of the accident.
