Shannon Nicole West Killed in Bakersfield Car Crash on Highway 99
Bakersfield, California (April 29, 2019) – The woman who was killed in a collision involving a suspected drunk driver on Friday night in Bakersfield has been identified as Shannon Nicole West, 27, of Bakersfield, according to the Kern County Sheriff’s Office.
The fatal crash happened at about 8:30 p.m. Friday, April 26, in the area of Copus Road and Southbound 99.
According to the California Highway Patrol, Robert Giron was driving his BMW when he ran a red light and slammed into a pickup truck on State Route 99 at Copus Road.

West was a passenger in the BMW and died in the accident.
Giron sustained major injuries and was taken a nearby hospital. The pickup driver only had complaints of pain.
Giron is facing charges including DUI causing death and vehicular manslaughter with gross negligence.
The crash remains under investigation.
